Mothers' Prayer Group

The Mothers' Prayer Group is a new initiative within our parish and had met only twice before Coronavirus arrived! For the moment, group members are invited to pray together at the same time but at home, Monday mornings at 10am.
The Mothers' Prayer Group was established by young mums in order to bring other mothers in the parish together with a set day and time for prayer. One intention is to pray for the health and protection of our children. One mum says, “Having two of my own and with one on the way, I appreciate how hard it can be to make time for prayer with little ones and how equally hard it is to bring them into church for adoration or mass.”
Mothers are encouraged to bring their little ones along to this prayer group and to pray and work around them. Some toys are provided, and the Siena Room is safe and carpeted. We follow the official Mother's Prayers Book praying a page each and sharing our intentions for our children. There’s respect for and complete confidentiality in all shared personal prayers.
When the church reopens, we will continue to meet every Monday morning at 10am with tea and coffee to follow. Meanwhile, why not join us in prayer at home with your little ones and with a coffee? And why not send Laura an email ([email protected]) simply saying that you too are praying for the protection of our children at this time?
Mothers’ Prayers
A little white booklet first published in England in 1995 (www.mothersprayers.org/) and now translated into many languages, is the guide and inspiration for prayer groups throughout the world who focus on children . . as yet unborn right through to adults.
Each Friday, in the Lady Chapel after the noon Mass, a group of (grand)mothers and aunties meets to pray and to share our concerns. All are really welcome to join us in body and in spirit.
If you would like a booklet, please contact Andrea Wood on 0161 445 4900
