The Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary aims to develop the holiness of its members through prayer and active co-operation in the Church’s work. Its priority is the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members support the parish through visitation, especially of the sick, both at home and in hospital and through collaboration in missionary activities sponsored by the parish. Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic task in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary. Weekly meetings comprise prayer, reports on work and discussion.
The Legion of Mary is an association of lay Catholics who working on a voluntary basis in about 170 countries. Founded by Frank Duff in 1921 in Dublin, the legion has benefited the mission of the Church and millions of individual members. Frank Duff is now the subject of a cause for beatification.
